Laura Shur has been composing since 1975. Her first compositions were pieces for six hands at one piano, written for piano pupils which Novello published in 1984 as the first of the successful series "Tunes for Three". She now has over 40 publications for piano solo, duet and trio, woodwind, strings, vocal and choral works.

Her publishers are Novello, Universal. Lomond, Spartan Press, Alry. Lawson-Gould and Warner, and her works have been performed worldwide.

In Summer 2002, Trinity College London added a new category of Piano - 6 Hands to their exam syllabus. Nine of the pieces chosen come from the "Tunes for Three" series for 6 hands 1 piano published by Novello; the "Piano Trio" series containing "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring"; and the "Golliwog's Cakewalk" published by Peacock Press, all composed or arranged by Laura Shur.
